ABOUT US (click here to return to our homepage)
NomadicMorocco is a trading name of Wilderplaces Adventure Tours NI Ltd (a company registered in Northern Ireland) but our office is based in southern Morocco where we live.

We strive to offer high quality (mountain) adventure trips and give our clients something different from the bigger, international travel companies.  Sensitivity to the local environment and Berber culture is of the utmost importance to all of us. Compared to the larger travel companies we have a small committed client base - the result of this is that we know most of our clients on an individual level and so can offer a highly personalised service before, during and after a trip. We are a small independent provider and have years of combined experience in leading groups and individuals to some of the most remote and unspoilt areas in this fabulous mountain range.

We try and avoid paperwork as much as possible (a common aspiration we're sure!), and so we are entirely "internet based" in terms of marketing, trip information and so on.

Often we're not just "paperless" but "office-less" as well(!) as we spend a good deal of time out of "civilisation" and up in the mountains working on trips and also developing some health and educational projects in remote Berber mountain villages. So please bear with us as we whilst we do reply to all our emails, it isn't always by return - no matter what satellite telephone or internet communications technology is at our disposal!

No glossy brochures but heaps of information both here on our site, on our blog and for the asking by email! Hopefully you're getting the picture!........

The principal "NomadicMoroccan's" - Des & Nathalie Clark live year-round in southern Morocco with their 3 children. They know & love this country well and are passionate about the High Atlas Mountains!

Des is an (Irish) professional International Mountain Leader and founding director of Wilderplaces. Outside of the Moroccan High Atlas, he has climbed and guided extensively in the Alps, Pyrenees, Iceland, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. As he has recently seen a whole flock of the very rare and endangered Bald Ibis just north of Agadir, he can now get back to guiding!

Nathalie is a widely travelled & multi-lingual mother of 3. An experienced French & E.F.L. teacher, she especially enjoys the combination of wilderness travel & diverse ethnic cultures. Nathalie leads a number of our cultural village and family adventure trips when not home-schooling! Trying to learn the unwritten Berber language Tashelhayt is just one of her current projects.

All our friends & colleagues who work with us and our partners in Kasbah-Tifawt, High Country and Red Rock International either live here in Morocco or may as well do with the amount of time that they spend over here!

On many of our trips, you will meet Omar, Hassan, Ali and Hussein who guide, cook and run the show pretty much during your time in the mountains. These are great guys and our friends. You can rest assured you will be in more than just a safe pair of hands when you come over here!

Some of the many comments from past trips!.....
"We had a great trip and a large part of it was because of your knowledge, patience and passion for the sport and the region. We really felt it and it drove us to push harder and harder."

"If we hadn't had a guide with us who spoke their language and was so well liked and known to the villagers it wouldn't have happened. Omar was great- he went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly  for us. A true professional! Thanks"

" I just wanted to send a note to say what an amazing trip we both had. Having wanted to go to Morocco for quite a while now -  it didn't disappoint and we met some great people along the way. Once again, a fantastic trip. "

"Dear Des & Nathalie, Many thanks to you both and to all your staff for making my trip to Morocco such a memorable experience. Special thanks to Jacob who was a most entertaining and informative guide to Taroudant and to Omar who introduced me to Moroccan cuisine in his home and who allowed me to share meals and fun with his wonderful team. Another trip to Morocco is certainly on my future walking agenda. I will also spread the word among likeminded friends."

"I really enjoyed it -- not just the climbing but also the scenery and seeing how local people live. Camping on snow and sleeping in an azib were new experiences for me, as was eating Berber-style without knives and forks. It was all really memorable
